Time for a break...

From school at least. The summer term is now over. This wasn't exactly the hardest term but I'm glad I've got 3 weeks until I start what will be one of the final terms of my college career. I'll be entering my final animation studio class and I'm very excited and also nervous. Soon I'll have to enter the "real world" and figure out how to accomplish everything I've ever wanted to after college.

I'll be making some big updates with my senior project so keep an eye out for those. In the meantime these are a couple of digital paintings I've done the last few weeks. I'm glad my friends have started this group to keep us practicing even when we're out of school.

This is a digital painting of Darth Nihulus from the expanded Star Wars universe. I really wanted to work on lighting so I decided to use both his lightsaber and the environment as compliments to each other with the light. I've also been trying to keep a looser style and focus more on strokes rather than smoothly rendering everything. Here's the result.

And here's the most recent. The theme for this challenge was mythology. I'm pretty interested in Japanese mythology so I decided to a Tengu demon since they are pretty iconic. I wanted to do this one in my animated style and try some different approaches to digital painting.
